The process of hiring a new nanny can be a complicated one. You can’t just hire anybody to take care of your kids. You will want to know what kind of person they are and how they live their life. The best way to obtain such information is by doing a nanny background check.
Your decision to get a nanny is easy. You are spending so much time at work that you don’t feel as if your kids are getting enough attention. You want someone to be home when they are, fix their dinner, and tuck them in at night. When you can’t be the one who gives them all of this the next best thing is a nanny.
A big problem in hiring a nanny is finding out who they really are, not just what they put down on paper. After all, this person is going to be in charge of your kids and alone in your house. There will have to be an element of trust implemented. The easiest thing to do is run a check on this person.
The process of running a background check on your nanny is fairly simple. You will just need a bit of information and a credit card to pay for the fee that is required. You can choose to do a check on their personal affairs, criminal history, or both. You will gain all of the information that you will need in order to decide if this person can be trusted to care for your family.
It is easy to go online and check if your nanny has been listed in the database of one of the clearinghouses. These lists will tell you if your nanny has ever committed a crime that had to do with her other nanny jobs. It is a good place to look and most of the listings have pictures.
When you have finished all of these checks you will need to begin checking their other background information. That includes educational degrees, certifications that pertain to the job, and personal references that the nanny has supplied to you during the application process.
Make sure that you take the time to go through each and every reference that your nanny has supplied to you. Call their past employers and all of their personal references. Make sure that everything checks out before ever giving her the job. It may seem like it will take way too long to check out each and every reference, but considering that this person will be caring for your children it is well worth it.
Before ever letting the nanny move into your home you will want to get to know them better. Spend an entire day at a park with them and the kids, or at least do a little family get together. It is important to allow your whole family to adjust to this new person and let this person adjust to your family. You will be glad you did it.
